Background

There is a huge opportunity in preventative healthcare (70% of all deaths being caused by non-clinical diseases such as diabetes) however due to little regulation, there is a lot of misinformation making it difficult for people to access credible sources.

Ongo wants to help health experts to create and monetize programs and coaching that users can subscribe to.

SCOPE

Build a web-based dashboard for fitness experts to monitor program and user engagement, and draw health insights.

        THE PROBLEM

Health instructors had no efficient way of monitoring their programs, revenue and users. Ongo wanted to build a dashboard that would keep track of all these metrics in one place, while also equipping instructors with insights to improve the effectiveness of their programs for clients. Experts needed to monitor the following:

  1. Monetization & Revenue - As a source of income, instructors needed to be able to keep track of the amount of money they were generating from their programs and their most successful channels.

  2. Program Engagement - To help instructors see the effectiveness of their programs and find ways to improve the quality of their content

  3. User Data – To give insight on the demographics of their user base.

RESEARCH PHASE

PERSONAS

Below are the personas we synthesized based on 8 user interviews across a mix of roles (personal trainers, holistic health and wellness coaches, and yoga instructors).

COMPETITIVE DASHBOARD RESEARCH

We looked at dashboards in the content creation, edtech, and health space with the goal of looking at common patterns, metrics observed, and data visualizations:

We listed all the possible metrics that might be valuable in the dashboard and grouped them into themes with affinity mapping. Through dot votting, we decided metrics to prioritize in the first design, and which to leave for the next design iteration.

We decided to create both an main dashboard view and an deep dive program view. Based on competitor research and user interviews, we realized that instructors would not only need a way to measure the engagement and success across their programs, but also within a specific one as well.
